Clinch View Cabin | Glass Wall Mountain Retreat | Cabin in Lebanon
1 Bedroom Cabin in Tyler, Lebanon
Wake up, press a button, and open the wall of your cabin to Clinch Mountain.
Clinch View Cabin is a private mountain studio for one or two guests on our 35-acre homestead in the Virginia mountains. Its defining feature is a full glass overhead door facing the ridgeline. From inside the cabin, the door lifts to connect the sleeping area with the covered porch and the mountain beyond — so you can drink your morning coffee in bed with the view wide open in front of you.
The cabin is private, comfortable, and intentionally simple, with no other guest cabins visible from the space. But staying at Clinch View isn't only about the cabin. It's a chance to spend a few days at Breath of Dawn, walk the mountain, explore the surrounding area, and have enough time to actually slow down while you're here.
We think Breath of Dawn is best experienced over two or three nights: enough time to settle in, spend a day exploring, and still have a morning when you don't need to be anywhere.
INSIDE THE CABIN
The warm, wood-lined studio centers around a queen bed with comfortable linens and views toward the mountain. A cowhide rug, small dining table, locally inspired details, and natural wood throughout give the cabin a comfortable, lived-in feel rather than the feel of a standard hotel room.
The kitchenette is set up for simple meals and slow mornings, with a mini refrigerator, portable cooktop, toaster oven, cookware, dishes, utensils, and custom wood shelving. Coffee and tea are provided.
A flexible table can also serve as a workspace, with USB charging and Wi-Fi available when you need to stay connected. There is no television here. We intentionally leave a little room for the mountain to be the entertainment.
Clinch View has full electric power, a mini-split for heating and air conditioning, and a private indoor bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet.
STEP OUTSIDE
The covered porch faces the mountain and gives you outdoor living and cooking space within a fully enclosed area. This is especially convenient for guests traveling with a dog who want to sit outside without immediately reaching for the leash.
No other guest cabins are visible from Clinch View, giving the space a sense of privacy that can be difficult to find. The cabin does overlook one of our farm barns, which is currently unused.
Beyond the cabin, Breath of Dawn is more than a place to sleep. Our 35-acre mountain homestead includes a 1.3-mile walking trail and opportunities to experience more of the land during your stay. Depending on the season and what is happening on the farm, you may also find opportunities for farm tours, workshops, wellness experiences, or other ways to spend time here.
STAY AWHILE
Clinch View works especially well as a quiet home base for exploring this part of the Virginia mountains. Spend a day hiking, paddling, photographing the landscape, exploring nearby small towns, or simply stay put.
Nearby outdoor destinations include the Clinch River, Devil's Bathtub, The Channels, Little Stony Falls, Hidden Valley Lake, Pinnacle Natural Area Preserve, and other hiking and outdoor recreation throughout the surrounding mountains.
Or don't make much of a plan at all.
Bring groceries. Make breakfast. Walk the property. Sit on the porch. Watch the light move across the mountain. Read something you haven't had time to finish. Take an afternoon nap.
Two or three nights gives you time to do both — explore beyond Breath of Dawn and actually enjoy being here.
A Working Mountain Homestead
Breath of Dawn is a working rural property, not a manicured resort. Wildlife, natural sounds, changing weather, uneven mountain terrain, and seasonal insects are part of being here.
We ask our guests to be partners in caring for the property. Mindful water use and taking your trash with you when you depart help us preserve the land and keep this small mountain stay sustainable.
Clinch View Cabin was built in part with timber salvaged after Hurricane Helene brought significant wind damage to the mountains. Trees from our property that were still strong enough to use were milled and given another purpose in the cabin.
It means part of the mountain is quite literally built into the place you're staying.
Clinch View Cabin accommodates one or two guests and is a good fit for couples, solo travelers, pet travelers, hikers, photographers, and anyone looking for a few quiet days in the mountains.
